Hire for a patio dig-out

A patio base means digging out turf and soil to the right depth, moving the spoil, then compacting a stone sub-base. Three machines do it in a fraction of the time by hand.

How the job goes

  1. Mark out the patio and check for buried cables and pipes.
  2. Dig out to depth with the digger, loading the dumper.
  3. Tip into a skip or a muck-away lorry.
  4. Lay and compact the sub-base in layers with the roller.

Tips from our yard

  • Measure your narrowest gate first: it decides which digger you can use.
  • Book the roller for the last days only; the planner does this for you.

Questions

Micro or mini digger for a patio?

The micro goes through narrower gates; the mini digs faster and deeper. Put your gate width in the planner and it picks the one that fits.

Do I need a roller?

For a stone sub-base under slabs, yes: an uncompacted base settles and the slabs move.

How many days?

It depends on size and ground. The Job Planner works it out from your measurements and shows the price for those days.
