What the Kubota K008-5 is for
The Kubota K008-5 0.8 tonne micro digger is our smallest digger and the one that gets into places nothing else can. It goes through a 75cm gap, which covers most standard side gates and terraced entries.
People hire it for back garden jobs: cable and pipe trenches, digging out for patios and decking, taking out old shrubs and roots, and levelling small plots. It is light, so it does far less damage to lawns and block paving on the way in and out.
Where people go wrong: they expect it to dig like the mini. On a long or deep footing it is slower, and the U17-5 will finish the job sooner. If the job is small or the access is tight, the micro is the right call.
It is also the machine that runs our Kubota KM55 breaker. If there is an old concrete path or patio to break out first, book the two together.
