On-Site User Guide

Everything you need to operate this machine safely and confidently.

Using the U17-5 on a Cannock job

In the 2021 Census 46.7% of Cannock Chase homes were semi-detached, the highest share of any town we deliver to. Most have the metre of side access the U17-5 needs, and once through it opens its tracks to 1,240 mm for a steadier dig.

Cannock, Hednesford and Heath Hayes grew on coal. Before footings or a soakaway, check the free mining risk map; if your plot is in a Development High Risk Area, building control will expect a mining report.

For a new drive, Staffordshire County Council takes a £137 assessment fee for the dropped kerb and wants a space at least 4.8 m deep. The U17-5 digs out behind it and the dumper clears the spoil.

Before the U17-5 arrives in Cannock

  • Measure the narrowest point between road and dig: 1.0 m is enough.
  • Check the coal mining risk map for your postcode.
  • Run a free LinesearchbeforeUdig search for cables and pipes.
  • Have an adult on site for the handover.

Questions we get asked

£44.68 each way to WS11 ex VAT: £40 for the first 10 road miles and £1.80 for the 2.6 miles after. Cheslyn Hay is a little cheaper and Hednesford a little dearer; checkout prices your postcode.

If you are in a coal mining Development High Risk Area, yes. Check the free mining risk map before you dig footings, and stop and call 0800 288 4242 if you hit a void.

Yes. The Thwaites 1 tonne high-tip dumper is £70 a day ex VAT and comes on the same delivery.
