Kubota K008-5 Quick Start Guide

Simple steps to operate safely

This is a Quick Start guide only. It does not replace formal training or the full operator’s manual.

This guide explains how to start, use, and stop the machine correctly.

1️⃣
Before Starting

  • Park on firm, level ground
  • Sit correctly and fasten your seatbelt
  • Ensure the control console is raised (locked) before starting

⚠️ Do not inspect fluids, remove covers, or adjust settings. If something appears unusual, do not start — contact us.

⚠️ Ventilation: Do not run the engine indoors or in enclosed areas unless properly ventilated. Exhaust fumes can be dangerous.

2️⃣
Controls You Need to Know

  • Right joystick – Boom and bucket movement
  • Left joystick – Arm movement and slewing (left/right)
  • Track levers – Machine travel
  • Throttle lever – Engine speed
  • Auxiliary pedal – Attachment operation
  • Control console – Locks and unlocks machine movement

📌 All other controls and settings are factory set and must not be changed.

3️⃣
Starting the Machine

  • Set the throttle to mid position
  • Insert the key and turn to RUN
  • Check that warning lights illuminate
  • Turn the key to START and release once the engine starts
  • Lower the control console to enable controls
  • Allow the engine to warm up for 1–2 minutes before working

🚨 Stop immediately and inform us if a warning light stays on, the engine sounds abnormal, or the controls feel wrong.

4️⃣
Operating the Machine

  • Use low to medium throttle
  • Operate smoothly — avoid sudden or aggressive movements
  • Keep the machine stable and level
  • Do not lift or move loads beyond the machine’s capacity
  • Only use approved attachments and follow attachment instructions
  • Keep all people well clear — no one in the swing/slew area

✅ For digging and working, use the standard / maximum track width for best stability.

👤
New Operator Guidance

  • If this is your first time using this type of machine:
  • Start at low engine speed
  • Use one control at a time until confident
  • Avoid fast tracking and fast slewing
  • Take time to understand how the machine responds

⚠️ If you feel unsure or uncomfortable at any point, stop work and contact us.

6️⃣
Travelling (This Prevents Damage)

  • Keep the bucket low — approximately 200–400 mm above the ground
  • Travel slowly and avoid sudden turns

⚠️ Be extremely careful on slopes or uneven ground.

⚠️ If you must stop on a slope, park so the machine cannot move (blade down).

7️⃣
What to Watch Out For

(Stop Work & Inform Us)

  • Any warning light or message
  • Loss of power, unusual vibrations, or burning smells
  • Leaks or spraying fluid
  • Tracks slipping or behaving unevenly
  • The machine not responding correctly
  • Any contact with objects such as kerbs, manholes, walls, services, or structures

⚠️ Do not continue operating to “finish the job”.

⚠️ Power lines: Take extreme care when working near overhead power lines.

⛽
Refuelling Safety (Fire Prevention)

  • Engine off, key removed
  • No smoking, flames, or ignition sources nearby
  • If fuel is spilled, stop and clean up safely before restarting

8️⃣
Stopping the Machine

  • Reduce throttle to idle
  • Allow the engine to idle for 30–60 seconds
  • Lower the bucket flat to the ground
  • Raise the control console to lock the controls
  • Turn the key to STOP and remove it

⚠️ Never leave the machine running unattended.
